Sheperd’s pie (cottage pie)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb(450g) ground beef (1/8tsp of salt and pepper)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot 5-6 cloves of garlic
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 heaping tbs tomato paste
  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup (118ml)Red wine
  • 1 cup (236ml)beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp dried Rosemary
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp dried parsley 6 oz (170g) frozen peas

For mashed potatoes:

  • 5 medium size Potatoes
  • 1 egg yolk 1/4 cup (20g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic salt
  • 5 tbs butter
  • 1/3 cup (78ml) Milk

Instructions :

STEP 1

Chop carrots and onion into dices, mince garlic.

STEP2

In a pan, cook ground beef flipping when golden brown.(don’t stir around)

STEP 3

After beef is golden brown, set a side and cook carrots, onions and garlic in the same pan used to cook the beef.

add salt and pepper.

STEP 4

After vegetables have been stir fried for a few minutes, add tomato paste, worcestershire sauce, red wine, beef broth, rosemary, thyme and parsley. let cook for another couple of minutes.

STEP 5

Add cooked beef and peas. mix well, cook on low heat for about 5 minutes.

STEP 6

For the mashed potatoes, put cubed potatoes in a pot with cooled salty water. Cook until potatoes are fork tender.

STEP 6

Mash cooked potatoes, add butter, milk, garlic salt and egg yolk.

STEP 7

Place beef mixture in a casserole dish, spread out evenly. Put mashed potatoes on top.

STEP8

After mashed potatoes are spread out evenly, grate Parmesan cheese on top. Bake in oven 375°F/ 190°C for 30 min.

STEP 9

Let cool for 10 minutes, and ENJOY!
